Gerade "Lesestress"...

Da ich an mehrere Lesekreise teilnehme bin ich momentan im "Lesestress", gerade warten 3 Bücher auf meinem Tisch, die gelesen werden "müssen":-) Und mir fällt es schwer, mich zu entscheiden, welches als 1. gelesen wird. Klar es ist kein richtiger Stress, aber mir fällt es schwer, bei einem Lesekreis nicht mitzumachen wenn das Buch mich interessiert. Ich finde es so spannend, sich nachher mit den anderen Lesern darüber zu unterhalten.
Und es ist natürlich kein Problem, wenn ich zu spät dran bin, keiner wird mich schimpfen:-) Trotzdem ärgert es mich ein klein bisschen, dass ich momentan im Leseverzug bin obwohl ich eigentlich genug Zeit zu lesen hätte. Scheint, dass ich meine Zeit schlecht einteile, wahrscheinlich schlafe ich viel zu lange:-)
Naja, morgen ist der 1. Advent und dann wird's bei Kerzenschein gelesen...1 von diesen 3 Büchern...welches gewinnen wird, wird sich morgen zeigen:-)

Ein paar Weihnachtsgeschenkideen rund um Bücher

Wie ich kürzlich schrieb verschenke ich sehr gerne Bücher. Da Weihnachten bald da ist, habe ich mir gedacht, ich stelle ein paar Weihnachtsgeschenkideen rund um Bücher zusammen, falls ihr noch nach Ideen sucht.


Wie wäre es mit einer Leselotte? (siehe mein Beitrag von 2010). Es gibt sie in so tolle Farben und gerade für die lange Winterabende finde ich sie super.

Oder eine schöne, schicke Buchhülle aus Filz? Da gibt es auch sehr viele verschiedene Farben aber auch anderes Material als Filz ist möglich. Ich muss gestehen, ich habe mir eine bei meiner Lieblingsbuchhändlerin bestellt, es wird mein eigenes Nikolausgeschenk für dieses Jahr. Schick sieht sie aus oder?:-) und so werden meine Bücher in meiner Handtasche nicht mehr leiden müssen.

Sonst gibt es noch wunderschöne Lesezeichen, da kann man in jeder Preisklasse welche finden. Oder eine schöne Leselupe, vielleicht für eine ältere Person. Aber nur wenn diese Person ein bisschen Humor hat;-)


Und wenn man die Geschmäcke von der Person gut kennt, kann man einfach einen schönen Roman schenken, oder ein Kochbuch zusammen mit einem Kochkursgutschein zB, oder einen schönen Bildband. 


Es gibt so vieles was man rund um Bücher verschenken kann, habt ihr andere Vorschläge? Würde mich freuen:-)

I reached my record:-)

Last year I read 43 books and for this year I have a goal of 50, which I hope I will reach and perhaps exceed:-) But for now I am proud that the 45 books milestone has been reached. Some of you certainly think it doesn't matter how many books, the most important is to have fun. You are right but perhaps this is my "german" side which likes to register things and count..;-) 
And as I put all info in my books database (which was the theme of a post last week), I also can say you that I started in the course of the year 10 books, which were not after my's fancy, so I gave up after some pages.


Now I am curious which books will cross my road till the end of 2011, hopefully good ones! I will keep you updated:-)

Christmas presents

I know, Christmas is in more than 5 weeks, so plenty of time to find and buy all christmas presents. But be honest with yourself, when will you really start to buy them?;-) Normally only 1 or 2 weeks before, this is what I did every year till last year. As I did not work, I started my christmas selection quite soon and this was such a wonderful feeling to have time for it. Therefore I already started with the christmas preparation: my christmas cards are printed, the christmas list is ready, and some gifts already arrived today:-) I still look for 2 special presents but I am on the right way!


Why this post on a books blog? Because I would be curious to know if books belong to the presents you are planning and if you like to receive books for christmas. This is sometimes a difficult exercise for me because as you know I love books and therefore I have the bad habit to think everyone is like I am;-)  and this is the reason I often offer books...
So if you receive again a book from me this year, please forgive me:-)

Books Database

You certainly now think, what? Books Database? Yes this is my "german" side;-)

And today I noticed again that such tools are helpful. This is also the reason I currently write this post. Today I took a book on my shelf where normally only unread books lie. OK as I had a look on the cover, I thought, strange I thought I already read it. But I was persuaded that it could not be as it was on the "unread books shelf". So I nestled (I hope this is the right term for it) on my couch and after 20 pages I was sure, I know this book! 

And this is exactly what would have not happened if I would have had a look in my books database...Ok this is not dramatical, I had only to stand up and take the next book on the shelf, hoping that this time this was really an unread one. 

Some years ago I started to put all the books I read in an Excel file, putting only the name of the book, author, number of pages and how I found the book. Last year I finally upgraded to a most elegant solution: a books database. I was then surprised how many different softwares you can find for this use and also how many people use them.

I found the one which offers me the features I need/like: Bookpedia, which can be installed on a Mac.After a free trial,  I bought the premium rights for a small payment of around 15 Euro and never regretted it! And next time, I will first check in Bookpedia before I start again a book which was on the wrong shelf;-)

Eifel-Träume - Jacques Berndorf

Nachdem ich "die Eleganz des Igels" endgültig weggelegt habe, fing ich mit einem Krimi von Jacques Berndorf an. Seine Eifel-Krimis haben eine bestimmte Reihenfolge, aber da ich nur eins von denen zu Hause hatte, habe ich mir gedacht: "egal, ich schaue erstmal ob sein Stil mit gefällt bevor ich mir seine andere Krimis kaufe". Ja, ja, ich vergesse nicht dass mein SUB reduziert werden möchte;-)

Und dieser Krimi war genau was ich gestern und heute brauchte, einfach zu lesen und trotzdem spannend! Und eine Lebensweisheit: Kinder wissen und spüren mehr als man denkt...

Viel über die Geschichte möchte ich aber nicht erzählen, außer dass Siggi Baumeister, Journalist, für einen Kindermordfall recherchiert und dabei die Polizei hilft, einige Indizien zu berücksichtigen. Siggi, der in der Zeit noch Besuch von seiner Tochter bekommt, die er seit Jahren nicht mehr gesehen hat. Und seine Ex-Freundin taucht auf. 

Es ist kein komplizierter Krimi, mir hat es aber gefallen! Ob ich mir andere von seiner Reihe kaufen werde, steht noch in den Sternen...
